As far as climatic conditions are concerned, Formentera is characterized by high temperatures and a very dry summer season. Its current annual median stands at 19,2 degrees centigrade; the absolute minimum temperature was registered on the 20th of January of 1944 and was 2,5 degrees. Currently, these data have changed, due to the atmospheric changes that the Planet is undergoing. The maximum temperatures in summer are usually around 40 degrees centigrade.
Wind patterns present a fairly irregular character during the course of the year. There are two clearly different seasons when we speak about winds: maximums are usually registered in December/January and in April/May. There ocurr storms even in September and at the end of the summer.
The rainfall in Formentera is almost nonexistent, but has a great importance for islanders because fields, orchards and gardens where they cultivate the majority of the food that it is consumed in the island depend on it.
